Alright, so basically tonight we're one night away from a full moon and it's finally cleared up outside. Because I'm a big nerd, and I don't like doing homework, I walked down to Cadboro bay, fisheye and tripod in hand, and took a few long exposure shots. I've always liked doing long exposures (all but maybe one here are 30 second exposures)... especially if they work out. I'm pretty pleased with these ones tonight, which is good, because I just about froze my fingers off in the process. Some of them are a little messy, or the focus is a little off, but that's just me, unable to feel my fingers, sometimes forgetting exactly how wide the angle of my lens is, and my crooked tripod. Anyways, hope you enjoy at least a few of these! :)
Scariest. Octo-slide. Ever. EVER.
Hey it's me!
Lov..e?
Close-up of the tide
Low tide.
Keep in mind that all these pictures were taken at around 11:30 at night, and I am very tired writing this. Sorry about any non-nonsensical things written above :)
Now that you've enjoyed calming pictures (minus the scary slide), listen to this sweet sweet song and feel even better about life.
Blindsided, by Bon Iver
Then, check out another one of Bon-bon's (as my cousin and brother like to call him) song, one of my favorites: Skinny Love.
Surprise! This is my (in-camera edited) first successful night sky shot! This was at our campsite in in Ellison Provincial Park in Vernon and, after seeing all these stars and wanting to capture them on my camera, I eventually ended up with this using my fish-eye and a 30 second exposure. I have two others, and the unedited version of this, but they seem to have disappeared into cyberspace/refuse to upload. Anyways, this is just another example of a) my use of the wide angle lens and b) how I'm learning to actually apply technique to my photos!
I got my new lens! Second hand, with a chipped hood, for way cheaper than I would be able to find at any store. It's definitely different than anything I've tried before, and kind of tricky to get use to. However, it is also super fun to goof around with, and allows you to get sweet shots that you can't get with any other lens. Now that the weather is nice, and I have a two week vacation and a wedding coming up, I'm excited to start taking more pictures and trying new things.
The result of my first day with the new lens. Pretty cool, eh? Not the most practical lens, but I'm likin' what I can get with it.
And for today's song pick, I have Set Adrift on Memory Bliss, by PM Dawn. Much Music's Top 100 Hip Hop and Rap Songs was on TV today, and the song popped up somewhere in the #100-80 spot. I first heard this song last summer, and I must admit... it is chill as anything.
