Little Lion Kids

So, today has been a particularly "blah" day. I'm not working today, but it's really dreary out, and it's come to the point where, if people don't show up randomly at my house (yes, it's a common occurrence), I only sometimes make the effort to engage in some sort of social activity.

Okay, I exaggerate, but today is just one of those days where I'm restless and don't know what to do with myself. At one point, I found myself messing around with the Virtual DJ app on my computer. It's a bit of a finicky app, and a mild annoyance to save anything you might make, but it's fun to play around with. Mostly, I amuse myself by changing the pitch of songs (you can make "Party In The USA" sound like a slow acoustic cover, sung by a man. It's surprisingly nice.) However, at one point in my amateur goofing around (most of which involves my clicking random buttons and sliding different sliders. It's not a very precise job I do), I combined "Little Lion Man" by Mumford & Sons and "Kids" by MGMT. These are two of my favorite songs, and I was pleasantly surprised by the result. I threw it onto iMovie and added a pretty picture so I could share it.

Keep in mind that I literally just overlapped these songs and slightly tweaked a few very small things (pitch, etc), and it's the definition of an amateur job. It is not perfect. And maybe it's just the fact that I made it, and I love random mash-ups, but I like how it sounds. Check it out:

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas dear reader(s)! I hope you all had the loveliest of lovely Christmas Eve's, with lots of family and friends and, of course, yummy food. And music. Music is good too. Personally, my Christmas eve, as per tradition, involved some rowdy versions of 'Hotel California' (correct lyrics not mandatory), 'Ring of Fire' (hand clapping mandatory), 'Case of You' (for those who insist on hearing at least one decent sung song), and, last but not ever forgotten, 'Santa Baby,' sung by two very reluctant twenty-somethings. Ah yes, my family is in fact very nerdy when it comes to singing songs in large groups.

Anyways, just wanted to say Merry Christmas. Have a good one!

Sigh No More by Mumford & Sons

Back in Vancouver!... Temporarily.

So, I just got back from a week away at my favorite place in the world, where I was busy reuniting with family I haven't seen for most of my life, spending time on the beach, and absorbing lots of music. Oh, and taking pictures. So many pictures. It was probably (no, definitely) the best Hornby experience ever, and I've had a lot. I'm off to Vernon tomorrow for a while for my cousins wedding, but I'll leave with a play list, "Hornby 2010".

This is a cat. Looking at said cat. I literally cannot think of a single thought to write down at this moment. Hmmm. That's odd.


This is actually a pretty sweet song. My dad recently got this CD for his birthday. It's quite nice, and has a bit of a folky-oldish sound to it. Also, if I ever find out how to post audio here than I have a guessing game. Be prepared.
