Twitter-twat.

So, I know that I've already mentioned the increasing number of blogs, twitters, tumblrs, etc that seem to be popping up all over the place. In addition to the fact that just about everyone has both a facebook page and at least one e-mail address, it seems like every person alive and over the age of 10 is online. Of course, I am among the guilty. These things don't really bother me, EXCEPT....
Twitter. I was thinking about it a few days ago and it is really just about the most self-absorbed thing ever. "Tweeting" every few minutes I'm eating a sandwich, I love sandwiches!, watching a moviee, etc... really? It's essentially the same as updating your facebook status multiple times a day and hoping that people will be so enthralled in your life that they will find themselves drawn to you, making you famous (...virtually)! Maybe I'm missing something, but I just don't get this whole twitter-craze.

Having hated on twitter, I don't have a problem with tumblr, or tumblr-ee's (?), as long as it isn't "lyfeee omg." Not gunna lie, I even enjoy looking at some of my friends tumblr's from time to time.

..but MAN, did I laugh when I saw this picture (on someone's tumblr... ironic?)

Last Day of May. Almost.

So, as you may have noticed, I've taken to (sometimes heavily) editing my photos before posting them. I do this mostly because I like to see how much a can alter the color/contrast without ruining the picture, and because I get bored (yup, that's actually mostly it). For this picture, I changed the saturation so that it actually makes Vancouver look much grayer than it actually is, which I kind of like. This photo was taken during the craziness of the Olympics in February, which was kind of a bright spot in a very dull winter... kind of like the street sign/light in this photo. (But really, I just made up that totally lame analogy now) Anyways, let me know what you think about this kind of photo altering!

My lovely city

You Don't Know Me, Ben Folds ft. Regina Spektor
Not only is this song easy on the ears, it's got a sweet video too. My friend suggested it to me a while back because "I might like it." She was totally right.

Totally unrelated

unedited photo of a rainbow!

"Voices soft as thunder"- I Dreamed a Dream.
Isn't that a wonderful line?

Heroin- The Velvet Underground

This song gets a little getting use to, but it really grew on me after a few listens. Also, it gets really intense.

Sharing Time

Hey all! So today, in spirit of my complete lack of any theme or real structure to the actual written portion of this blog, I'm sharing a theme! Now what theme might I be following today you ask? In joining the blogging bandwagon, I can't help but notice how many people in my life have their own various forms of blog or idea-sharing website. So if anyone's reading this, why not share some of these with you?

-My sister's just started up her own blog as part of one of her writing courses. Check it out here.

-Branching out from one of her posts, some of her friends have their own site that's pretty cool, you should probably check it out. Here.

-Finally, check out this link for a surprise. You might just find a little music, courtesy of a cousin of mine.

And, that's all I have for now. Know some sweet blogs/websites/cyberspace spaces by some friends of your own? Comment below!

Mah backyard, it's so hardcore...

Aaaand, my final song in my top five: #5: Sleeping Sickness, by City and Colour

The chorus in this song makes me all shivery

P.S. I lost this shirt. This makes a very sad Zoe.

I'm sleepy

So... this is my friend's doggy on top of Mount Seymour way back in October. Isn't he pretty?

Next on the list, #2: Heartbreaker, by Mariah Carey and Jay-Z
(song starts about 0:30)

This song is ridiculously catchy.... and such a sweet pump-up song. Although, fair enough, probably a song only girls really like.

This TV is old

This TV is old, just like this next song... Taken at Used! in downtown
Vancouver.

#3 on my top five: No Rain by Blind Melon (skip to 0:33 for the actual song)
Once again, embedding has been disabled, so no video here. This song is probably my favorite ever, just because I can listen to it anytime, it makes me happy, and it reminds me of the 90's.

Gotta Catch 'Em All!

Even Pokemon have tantrums sometimes!

Alright, so these three picture are all unedited and a part of a very quickly done photo op, but I kinda like them, especially the second one. I went to the Richmond Night Market tonight and, along with spending ridiculous amounts of money on food and ridiculous amounts of time on buses, skytrains, seabuses, and taxis, spent $4 on twenty-four little tiny pokemon. They smell like they'll give me some sort of weird, cheap-plastic-related disease just by touching them.

On my top five song list:
#4. Kids, by MGMT (but not the real music video because it's kind of creepy and involved a small child being traumatized for life by large monsters)

This song makes me unexplainably happy

Happy Harvey Milk Day!

Well, actually, yesterday was officially Harvey Milk Day. But, I didn't get around to finishing this post. My bad. For those of you have seen the movie, you know who I'm talking about. For those of you who haven't, you should, it's a good one. Read more about this new day here.

Picture really not relevant, but that's okay.

Aaaand, starting today, a list of my five favorite songs (in no particular order).
#5. I'll Follow You Into The Dark, by Death Cab For Cutie

It's a little bit sad, but kind of sweet and awesome.

Me again!

A picture I just found on my computer that I took
probably two or three years ago.
This is two of
my sister's friends playing at Tom Lee Music.

Music today? Well I have a picture of two of my sister's friends playing music, so why not show some of my cousin's friends too? These guys are from Vancouver and I think went to school with my cousins. I actually saw them (twice) playing concerts during the Olympics back in February, and they're pretty good. I can't post the actual video here, but here's the link- The Light is You, by Said The Whale.

Reasons why reality TV should not exist.

Reason #1.
I just saw a commercial for the newest season of... Kate Plus Eight. The fact that they are still running that show after all the family drama both intrigues and infuriates me. It's a good thing she must be making big bucks, because someone's going to have to pay a lot for those poor kids therapy in a near future...

no stopping now!

Also, I think (despite many other people's disagreement) that this is a pretty decent song (if you're into this kind of music), with an absolutely sick music video. Probably one of my favorite music videos ever.

Make Her Say- Kid Cudi ft Kanye West and Common

I'm not going to promise consistancy

Yup, this is me... hopping on the band wagon of the 21st century. Everyone else is doing it, so that makes it cool, right?

But seriously, as if I'm not wasting enough of my time on facebook , I thought it might be kind of an interesting thing to try. Hopefully, I can share my two favorite things: photography and music. I'm thinking that, because I can hardly think of enough interesting things to write about on a consistent basis, I can post photos and songs here instead. This will hopefully expand my musical experiences, and motivate me to take photos (that I'm actually proud of) more often.

So, here goes. To the probably three people who will read this- tell me what you think!

This is my band wagon

Wagon Wheel- Old Crow Medicine Show
